 '05 Tailgating Location at Beaver Stadium

Penn State South Jersey Shore Alumni Chapter has a new location for Chapter Tailgating this year at Beaver Stadium. (Same "general" area as past years.)

Lot: EAST 24; Row 2; Space # 8726 For Orientation / Reference: Stand in front of the Joe Paterno statue and look East. Go along the road near the "meat lab" building to a fence. See sign for East 24 parking lot. Go to Row 2 and look for the parking slip # 8726. Other Tailgating and general Chapter info will be posted here.

Scholarship Dinner ~ Thursday, May 26th

Speaker – Dick Anderson
Penn State Football Offensive Line Coach

Dick Anderson is in his 28th year on the staff, his fifth season working with the centers and guards.     He helped mold a unit that paved the way for Larry Johnson to become just the ninth 2,000-yard rusher in NCAA history in 2002. Anderson coached the quarterbacks from 1993-99, with his initial two pupils - first round draftee Kerry Collins and Wally Richardson - matriculating to the NFL,

with Collins leading the New York Giants to Super Bowl XXXV.
   Anderson returned to Penn State in 1990 after six seasons as head coach at Rutgers, working with the offensive line from 1990-92.
   He turned out some exceptional performers during an earlier 11-year (1973-83) stint on the Lions’ staff. From Queens, N.Y., Anderson played both ways at end for Coach Rip Engle at Penn State from 1960-62. He was a graduate assistant on Engle’s staff in 1963 and 1964.

Anderson’s tenure at Rutgers included a 21-16 win over Penn State in 1988, the Scarlet’s first win in the rivalry in 70 years.

Annual Offering Party held in Vineland
Prospective ’05 Freshmen and their parents attended the Chapter’s annual “Offering” Gathering in Vineland in March. First year Penn Stater Joe Wertz, left, offered insight to questions from prospective students and their parents. He was thanked by Chapter President Gary Thomas. Wertz was one of the student recipients of a 2004 scholarship from the South Jersey Shore Chapter.   Return to Top of Page
